So you had a baby in lockdown?
If you are like me and living in Victoria, hearing the sound of new covid cases brings a shiver down your spine. You sit and wait for the latest press conference, holding your breath waiting for the words “At 11:59pm tonight we will enter lockdown”.
As a small business these words can be very devistating. You spend years building a business, and in minute you feel like it is takem away, and for how long? We never really know do we?
My frustration for business is often very shortlived. My thoughts go to the mums and dads of newborn babies who are denied extra support in the delivery room, denied visits from excited Grandparents and proud Aunties and Uncles.
They are also denied capturing those sweet newborns in those first few weeks after birth. But the thing is, there is no bad time to photograph your baby.
Sure the first 2 weeks after birth your newborn is the sleepiest, but does that mean they stop sleeping after 2 weeks of age? Absolutely not.
After many lockdowns now, I feel like I’m now a lockdown baby expert. I have gone through 6 lockdowns now, 2 of them being extreamly long. All of those sessions that needed to be postponed were still able to get beautiful images of their precious baby, sleeping, smiling and wide eyed.
There is no bad time to photograph your baby and capture memories, so please don’t think you have missed out.
Below are images of babies after lockdowns up to 12 weeks of age.
So please, if you are worried you have “missed the boat” you haven’t. The boat is never leaving.
